Arij offers short-term counselling to address emotional blocks and build an awareness of the context shaping a present stressor. Arij works from an anti-oppressive, feminist lens and utilizes Emotion Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in her practice. She views therapy as a collaborative process in which she gently offers focused, thought-provoking questions that encourage new ways of understanding a situation.

With humour, empathy and deep respect for the courage it takes to open up, Arij’s goal is to support you in your journey towards self-knowledge, self-acceptance and self-esteem. Arij has a Master of Social Work from the University of Windsor and has worked as a mental health crisis worker and therapist with children and families.

Arij is a PhD candidate in Social Justice Education at the University of Toronto. She teaches Wen-Do Women’s Self-Defence. Arij holds advanced training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). With the support of the Tessellate Institute, she is researching an EFFT technique for addressing emotional injuries in young Muslim women called The Apology. Arij is am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
