Uzma works from a holistic approach to help you meet your hopes and goals. She aims to honour your lived experiences and to understand how you make meaning of your own life and identity.
Uzma strives to incorporate transparency, authenticity and humour into therapy, and hopes to create a space that is marked by collaboration, compassion and safety. Her practice is bound by a feminist, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, harm reduction, trauma-informed framework; As a Canadian born, South Asian female, Uzma values the ways that structures and political categories such as race, class, gender and diaspora, intersect and shape our everyday lives.
Uzma uses various psychotherapeutic approaches, depending on your needs. She has experience supporting individuals, couples and families, who are facing anxiety, depression, anger, drug use, stress, relationship challenges, as well as life and identity transitions. She specializes in Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy.
Uzma completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University and obtained her Masters of Social Work from The University of Toronto.
Uzma fluently understands Urdu.
